Adaptive vs. Universal

What is Adaptive? What is Universal? Adaptive products provide a bridge that allows for easy access to and completion of a task. Over the years, adaptive products have greatly advanced and now you can find many options for a variety of “occupations”. You might be asking, what are occupations? Think of occupations as the tasks that we want to complete during our day, such as self-care tasks, play, or work. In an increasingly inclusive society, the terms adaptive and universal are frequently used interchangeably. Does conflating these terms matter? In most instances we don’t think so. Whether referring to easier ways to reach the top shelf or put on your shoes, each individual’s circumstances may be unique, but the objective of the task is the same. The question becomes, how do we increase accessibility? That is what this website intends to explore. We want to talk about everything adaptive and universal, and help connect individuals with solutions.
